PHIL RADOFF–Verdi’s “La Traviata”: A Guided Tour

Categories:

Thursday, March 2, 7:30-9:00PM. “La Traviata” is one of Verdi’s most successful operas and among the most popular in the operatic repertory.  Based on the Alexander Dumas (fils) novel, “The Lady of the Camellias,” the opera is the tragic story of a reformed courtesan, Violetta Valery, and her unhappy lover, Alfredo Germont. Phil Radoff will walk us through this masterpiece of Verdi’s Middle Period in advance of the Metropolitan Opera’s production in high definition at many theaters in Metrowest.

Phil Radoff is a retired lawyer with a lifelong interest in opera. He leads opera courses at the Brandeis Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (BOLLI) and the Lifelong Learners: An Independent Cooperative. This will be his fourth annual opera talk at the library.
