The staff and the Trustees of the Wayland Free Public Library invite you and your family to visit and become active users of our library in person and online. The library is a rich collection of resources. From materials like books, audiobooks, and videos to wireless Internet access, special programs, and meeting space, we offer enrichment opportunities for everyone in the family.
For over 200 years, libraries have played a major role in the educational and recreational lives of Wayland citizens, starting in 1796 when the Rev. Josiah Bridge organized the private East Sudbury Social Library. The Wayland Free Public Library, founded in 1848, is one of the first free public libraries in Massachusetts to be supported by a local tax levy. Building on that strong historic base, the Library seeks to fulfill its mission to the community by offering both the best of time-honored library services as well as modern electronic information services provided by a professional and friendly staff. As a member of the Minuteman Library Network, our library is well-positioned to deliver the most up-to-date automation services possible.
We are proud of our website, which we have come to think of as our “virtual branch,” generously funded by contributions from the Library’s Millennium Fund.

Museum Passes
The Friends of the Wayland Public Library support an extensive list of museum passes for use by Library patrons. Passes provide access to art museums, nature preserves, and zoos in the Greater Boston area.
