Coyote Continent with Photographer Bob Michelson

Video of this program

Wednesday, Feb 13, 7:00 pm – Coyotes are the new top predator in the Northeast.  They were never found east of the Mississippi River until after 1900.  As they migrated north and east up into Canada, they inter-bred with what was available – Wolves.  The coyotes we see in our backyards are actually hybrid coyotes and more closely resemble large German Shepherds.  These animals are larger, stronger, and can hunt in both forest and open plain habitats, while their western cousins will only hunt in open plains.  Participants will learn about the eastward expansion and hybridization of Coyotes to our region.
