Shibori Workshop: Japanese Shape Resist ‘Tie-Dye’

Friday, Sept 20, 12pm – Learn the art of Shibori – a Japanese shape resist dye technique – using traditional indigo dye. We’ll bind our fabric to make a resistance pattern using wood blocks, rubber bands, and popsicle sticks. Then we’ll head outside to dip dye our projects. This workshop will take place half indoors and half outdoors, rain or shine.

Registration required. Limit 10 participants. Ages 16 and up. Wear old clothes as the dye can stain. All materials provided, including a white cotton flour sack towel to dye.

If you have a small fabric item like a t-shirt or pillowcase that you would like bring from home that’s ok too. It should be white and made of natural fibers – cotton, linen, hemp.
