Wayland Library’s Summer Reading Program 2020 begins on June 22nd!
The theme for this year’s program for children in grades pre-K to Grade 5 is Imagine Your Story. We will be celebrating fairy tales, imagination, and reading! Watch a mini trailer for the program HERE.
This year we are hosting our Summer Reading Program on Beanstack, an easy to use website where children can earn cool digital badges for logging reading and completing fun craft and STEM challenges. We have concocted a special story for children called “Search Through the Enchanted Forest.” Every week the next part of the story will be revealed accompanied by fairytale themed activities and crafts with tutorials from our Youth Services librarians. We will also be posting booklists each week that relate to the theme. Click here for this week’s list on books with a MAGIC theme.
In addition we will be offering online programs throughout the summer including a magic show this coming Thursday, a performance by Sciencetellers of “Dragons: Return of the Ice Sorceress” next week, and a puppet show in July presented by Pumpernickel Puppets. Visit our Children’s Summer Reading page for more details. Also, we have a Beanstack program for Babies, Toddlers, and Preschoolers with simple activities for you to do with your little ones.
Teens have their own Summer Reading Program which includes prizes like gift certificates to Barnes & Noble and a raffle for a free Kindle Fire. You can learn more about the Teen program by visiting our Teen Summer Reading page.
Summer Reading for all ages runs from June 22-August 31, 2020.
