FYI: A Virtual “Tempest”

Categories:

The Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s production of “The Tempest” was set to be performed on the Common this summer, but instead became one of the cultural casualties of the pandemic.  Nonetheless, the CSC has forged ahead and will present a script-in-hand virtual performance on Thursday, August 6 at 7 p.m. on its YouTube channel.  It’s free, with a suggested donation of $20.  The cast includes the great John Douglas Thompson as Prospero, Nora Eschenheimer as Miranda, and local stalwarts Maurice Emmanuel Parent, Nael Nacer, John Kuntz, and Remo Airaldi.

You can bring another dimension to the show by viewing the excellent talk given at the library by Joel Angiolillo titled “The Tempest: Should We Translate Shakespeare Into Modern English?”
