Genetic Testing for Hereditary Cancer Risk

Tuesday, 8/18 at 7pm – What is your hereditary cancer risk and how is it determined? Should you or a family member consider getting tested? This presentation will provide an overview of what it means to have hereditary cancer risk, what genetic testing for cancer risk involves, and who should meet with a cancer genetic counselor. Fatima Amir is a genetic counselor at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since 2018, where she provides cancer genetic counseling to adult patients. Fatima has a special interest in improving access to genetic counseling services among medically underserved populations. She received her Masters of Science in Medical Genetics from the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in 2018, and was certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling that same year.
