Thurs, Nov 12, 7:30 pm – The 1764 bill of sale for Phebey, an enslaved 2 year-old girl, is one of the most challenging and emotionally evocative objects in the Framingham History Center’s collection. How do we grapple with the evidence of enslavement and oppression in our community? How can we use empathy to illuminate history? When we look at the past with clarity, how does it inform our present?

Join Framingham History Center Curator Stacen Goldman for an active discussion about the significance of this object and the strong emotions it evokes. We encourage participants to view the FHC’s virtual exhibit, “Framingham’s Top 10,” which features this document. Come prepared to ask questions and learn. Register for the Zoom link.
