Winter Watercolor Painting for Adults

Tuesday, Nov 29, 7:00 PM – An instructor from Pop Up Art school will teach us four watercolor techniques, including negative space painting. The negative space is around the subject. You’ll draw the outline of the design using one of the templates provided (or make your own design). The next step is to paint around the shape using a few layers of paint, and salt to add texture.

Negative space painting is a different way to think about painting and it’s a fun way to create a complex image using the translucent qualities of watercolor paint.

Join via Zoom or in the Raytheon Room! Our instructor will be leading us over Zoom. Registration required. Limit 15 participants, ages 16+. Kits will be available for pick up at the reference desk 2 weeks prior to the class.

In addition to the supplies provided in the kit you’ll need:

  • Tape – masking or painter’s tapes are good. Scotch tape will do in a pinch.
  • A surface onto which you can tape your paper. Use a flat, rigid surface you don’t mind getting paint on. You can use: foamboard, a plastic or metal tray, the back of a cookie sheet or a rigid self-healing cutting mat.
  • Blow dryer or craft heat tool Please note: if there are two people taking the class in one household, please bring two blow dryers.
  • Scissors
  • Pencil with eraser
  • Two containers of water
