Some highlights and recommendations from the library’s resident Holmes fan, Erica LeBlang:
UNQUIET SPIRITS by Bonnie MacBird. A novel-length adventure of Holmes and Watson in their element, told (in keeping with Doyle’s original stories) in the style of a lost memoir by Dr. Watson.
OBSERVATIONS BY GASLIGHT by Lyndsay Faye. Short stories told from the perspectives of minor characters in Holmes’s world, such as Irene Adler and a former Baker Street irregulars– Holmes’s band of street urchin spies & errand boys.
WARLOCK HOLMES: A STUDY IN BRIMSTONE by G.S. Denning. Contemporary fantasy in which Holmes is the greatest warlock ever born, but certainly not the greatest detective, and Watson is the human pulled into his orbit, trying to help him pass as human as they solve mysteries… differently. (In Erica’s opinion, this series is possibly the funniest books I’ve ever read.)
A SCANDAL IN SCARLET by Vicki Delany. Cozy mystery series where the owner of a Sherlock Holmes-themed bookstore, and natural sleuth, finds herself in the midst of murder investigations and mysteries in her small Cape Cod town.
