The Wayland Library is a member of the Minuteman Library Network (MLN). Your library card entitles you to borrow materials at our library, as well as at 41 other public and academic libraries. Most items belonging to other MLN libraries can be requested for pick up in Wayland right through the Minuteman Catalog.
For details on borrowing materials from outside the Minuteman Network, click here.
Patrons are allowed a total of 150 items to be checked out to their account at one time. There is a limit of 50 requests per account. Items cannot be borrowed or renewed if you have more than $100 in fines or charges on your account.
The Minuteman Library Network provides automatic renewals for eligible items.
You will receive an email courtesy notice identifying which items are due soon and which items were auto-renewed.
Items are renewed if:
If an item cannot be renewed, the courtesy notice lists it as due in 2 days. If you do not have an email address associated with your account, eligible items will still be automatically renewed. If you like, you can also still renew an item by calling the library or by logging into your account on the MLN home page.
Items received from outside the Minuteman Library Network are not renewable. Please call and ask for the Inter-Library Loan Department for assistance about extenuating circumstances.
Wayland Library materials may be returned to any MLN library, and materials from any MLN library may be returned to Wayland, except for those items with labels indicating that they must be returned to their owning library (eg. Library of Things items, Inter-Library Loan items, Museum Passes).
We have two book returns outside the library, one for books and one for media (i.e. CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks). These bins are emptied once a day in the morning. Items returned in these bins during the day will be checked in the following business day.
Library materials that are obtained through Inter-Library Loan (from outside the Minuteman Library Network) must be returned to the circulation desk at this library. These items will have a notice attached that tells you this.
With your card number in hand you may request online, by phone, or in person at the library.
When notified that your item(s) is available for pickup, by phone or email, come to the library with your card or an ID. If someone else is picking up for you that person must have your library card. This is required to protect your privacy. [Mass. General Laws Chapter 78, Section 7]
The Minuteman Library Network app offers the ability to display your library card digitally on a smart phone and is scannable at any circulation desk or self-checkout.
The Wayland Library still offers the ability to pick up items without coming inside the library by allowing you to collect requested items from our walk-up pick up shelving just outside our Parking Lot door.
You must specifically request that items be placed outside for curbside pick up by either calling the library, following the link in the email notifying you that your item is ready, or scheduling your pick up here.
