The Board of Library Trustees and staff of the Wayland Free Public Library invite you to join us for an Antiques Appraisal Day on Saturday October 17th, 10:00AM – 3:00PM! Three respected appraisers from Bonhams will be available to appraise heirlooms, collectibles, jewelry, art, and more! More information is available below under the FAQ. While walk-ins are welcome, pre-registration is strongly encouraged, and participants should register in accordance with the appraiser’s speciality. Is this a formal written appraisal? No. The antiques appraisers from Bonhams will give you an informal verbal opinion of value. If you need a signed appraisal for insurance, estate planning, or tax purposes, please ask onsite about how you can obtain a formal written appraisal.
What if my items don’t fit any of the categories or appraisers above? If you have an item that is not on the list of items that will be appraised, you will not be able to have it evaluated at this event. Please email clindquist@minlib.net before the event if you are unsure.
How many items can I bring? Are appointments/registration required? Up to two items per person may be appraised at the event. While registering is not a requirement, time slots are limited. We strongly encourage people to register in advance by using the links above. We may be able to accommodate some walk-in registrations on the day of the event if space and time allows. Please check in at the registration table when you arrive.
Is there anything I can’t bring in for appraisal? Yes, certain items are prohibited and will not be appraised. Military items, large rugs, musical instruments, Native American Artifacts – Click here to see the complete list.
Is the library open to patrons on this day? Adult Services (upstairs on the main floor) will not be open for normal Library services. The Children’s Room, as well as the Friends of the Library book sale located in the Raytheon Room on the lower level of the Library, will be open as usual.
I see it is $15 per item, as a suggested donation? What does that mean, exactly? Donations are not required to participate, only encouraged. $15 per item is merely a suggested amount. Participants are allowed to donate above or below that amount, or not at all.
How should I submit my donation, if I wish to do so? Please mail your check made out to “The Millennium Fund of the town of Wayland Free Public Library” to: Wayland Free Public Library, Antiques Appraisal Day, 5 Concord Rd., Wayland, MA 01778. You may also hand deliver a check or cash on Appraisal Day when you sign in at the Registration table in the main lobby, or you may donate online via UniPay. Is there more information on donating, or becoming a sponsor? Donations will directly support the Library and be deposited into The Millennium Fund of the town of Wayland Free Public Library, a gift fund established and maintained by the Board of Library Trustees. Individual donors and business sponsors will be recognized in accordance with the amount of their individual donation or business sponsorship.
