All Massachusetts residents are eligible for a Boston Public Library E-Card. This card gives you access to an array of online resources available through Boston Public Library.
A BPL e-card grants you access to a variety of online resources, including:
Downloading/Streaming
Libby – Minuteman patrons can add “Boston Public Library” as a library in the Libby App, then use their Minuteman library card barcode and password to log in to it (while selecting the option for “Minuteman patrons”). After the BPL has been added as a library in Libby, patrons can borrow and place holds in the sizeable BPL collection as easily as in the Minuteman collection.
Palace Project – especially useful for Amazon Exclusive e-book and e-audiobooks (Audible- & Kindle-exclusives). The Palace Project is a digital content distributor like Libby. Palace is also a one-stop app for BPL’s digital content, showing both BPL collections: Libby & Palace holdings. What makes Palace unique is that Amazon allows Palace to sell some Amazon-exclusive content to libraries.
Magazines & Newspapers via Press Reader – PressReader carries color full-page and article reproductions of thousands of other U.S. and international newspapers & magazines including the Economist, the NYTimes and the Boston Globe.
ComicsPlus – titles do not overlap with the titles in Minuteman’s All Access Comics collection in Libby.
Flipster Digital Magazines – has the following titles not in Libby Magazines: The Atlantic, Bloomberg Businessweek, Forbes, Kirkus Reviews, Library Journal, National Review, People, Publisher’s Weekly, Real Simple, School Library Journal, Time Magazine.
Biblio+ – Library e-card holders have access to an ad-free catalog of movies, TV shows, and documentaries on many devices.
Kanopy – Kanopy includes acclaimed movies and documentaries on-demand from award-winning filmmakers. Each month MLN patrons can access 4 additional movies through the BLP.
World Language Collections – The BPL maintains more than 15 world languages in this collection. You have access to the OverDrive World Language Collection of e-books, e-magazines, and e-audiobooks. With LOTE4Kids, kids can enjoy thousands of picture books in more than 65 languages, including sign language, with English translations.
